The National Weather Service has also issued a red flag fire warning for interior portions of southwest California, including Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat and fire warnings are expected to impact vulnerable populations, including the elderly, children, and pets. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can lead to heat-related illnesses, while the elevated wildfire risk threatens communities near wildland interfaces. Beachgoers face heightened risks due to strong rip currents and elevated surf conditions. Southern California Edison is considering planned power outages for approximately 5,700 customers to mitigate wildfire risks.
